Most things pass. When I was a child I had asthma. My doctor said not to worry because I’d grow out of it. And he was right. Later I had appendicitis; they took out my appendix and now you can hardly see the scar. In hospital I started drinking Lucozade and for a few years I loved it. Somewhere along the way I stopped and now I think it tastes terrible.
Yet there is one condition I succumbed to as a child that I haven’t grown out of. And now I realise I never will. Before I was ten years old, I caught the bug of politics.
